How to start
- Check that the product is on DEC's homemade food types list. Some TCS foods qualify.
- No permit or inspection is needed, but you generally need an Alaska business license. Anchorage and other cities may add requirements.
- TCS foods must be sold directly by you. Non-TCS foods can also be sold through agents like gift shops, grocery stores, or cafés, ideally with a signed agreement.
- Sell online if you like, but not out of state, and not wholesale or on consignment.
- Label packaged food and post the required sign.
